Case Study

Location: Madanpur village, Masalpur Tehsil, Karauli District, Rajasthan
Organization: Dang Vikas Sansthan (DVS)
Project: Saksham Project

As part of the Saksham Project, Dang Vikas Sansthan identified Mr. Rajesh Jatav, son of Buddharam Jatav from Madanpur village, as one of the beneficiaries. Rajesh, a sandstone mine worker and sole breadwinner for his six-member family, had been suffering from an undiagnosed illness for several years.

During a household visit, the community organizer from DVS discovered that Rajesh had no awareness of silicosis, a disease common among mine workers, nor of the government assistance available for affected individuals.

The organization immediately intervened:

  • Rajesh was counseled and informed about silicosis and its entitlements.

  • He was registered for a silicosis examination during a social security camp conducted by DVS.

  • He was referred for a medical examination at the district hospital in Karauli.

Following the examination, a silicosis certificate was issued to Rajesh on 08.02.2023 by the district hospital. With continued follow-up and support from DVS, he eventually received silicosis financial assistance in August 2023.

Rajesh Jatav expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dang Vikas Sansthan for guiding him through the process and ensuring he could access the much-needed support for his health and family.
