Eastern Rajasthan, particularly the Karauli and Dholpur regions, is home to a large number of mine workers who often face hazardous working conditions, low wages, and lack of social protection. At Daang Vikas Sansthan (DVS), we are committed to organizing and empowering mine workers to secure their rights, improve their working conditions, and live with dignity.
Through our Mine Workers Institution, we work to build a strong collective voice among mining laborers—many of whom are from marginalized and tribal communities.
Our Focus Areas:
- Organizing mine workers into unions and collectives for collective bargaining
- Legal support and rights awareness related to wages, safety, and compensation
- Health camps and occupational safety training, particularly addressing silicosis and related diseases
- Facilitation of access to government schemes such as pensions, insurance, and health benefits
- Advocacy with local authorities and policy stakeholders for improved labor laws and enforcement
- Education and awareness for families of mine workers, with a focus on women and children
By strengthening institutions led by mine workers themselves, DVS helps create a platform for long-term change and social justice in one of the most vulnerable labor sectors in the region.
